RPCS3 is a free and open source video game console emulator and debugger for Sony PlayStation 3 running on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and macOS operating systems, allowing to play and debug errors in PlayStation 3 games and software on personal computers. Development of RPCS3 began in early 2011, and it has grown to become one of the most complex video game console emulators, with the ongoing goal of effectively emulating the entire PlayStation 3.

Notable features include the ability to run all commercially released PS3 games to some extent, implementation of thread scheduler PPE, and the Vulkan graphics API for improved performance. It also recently added the ability to create save states, a feature that was once considered technically challenging.

To run the game, it also requires PlayStation 3 firmware, which can be downloaded from Sony's official website.
