In addition to a total of over 1,500 built-in preset sounds, a large number of PCM waveforms and wave sequences have been added allowing for even more diverse sounds to be created. Wavestation has a unique interface that allows users to mix up to four different sounds (called "waves") together in real time using a joystick. This allows for a great deal of expressive control over the sound and has made it popular among electronic musicians.

In the further designed and refined KORG WAVESTATION 2 collection, tags have been added allowing you to filter a large number of presets by audio category/character. A new random button has also been added to help you create sexy sound scenes with the simple press of a button.

Since then, KORG has released several updated versions of Wavestation, including Wavestation A/D, Wavestation SR and Wavestation EX.
