FreeCAD is a parameter 3D model, based on a general purpose feature for CAD, MCAD, CAx, CAE and PLM, directly targeting mechanical engineering and product design but also in line with more use of use in engineering, such as architecture or other engineering majors. It is 100% open source code and extremely modular, allowing very advanced expansion and custom.

FreeCAD is based on OpenCasCade, a powerful figure, with a 3D scene representation model compatible with Open Inventor provided by the 3D Coin Library and a wide Python API. The interface was built with Qt. FreeCAD runs identical on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux platforms.

Features of FreeCAD

  • Free to build what you want . The parameter model allows you to easily modify your design by going back to your model history to change its parameters.
  • Creating 3D from 2D back FreeCAD allows you to outline the limited 2D shapes and use them as the basis for building other objects. It contains many components to adjust the size or extract of the design details from the 3D model to create high quality production ready drawings.
  • The design for your needs FreeCAD is designed to fit many uses including product design, mechanical engineering and architecture, whether you are a favorite, programmer, experienced CAD user, student or teacher.
  • The cross platform FreeCAD runs on Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems.
