Features of Hardentools:

  • Disable Windows Script Server.
  • Turn off AutoRun and AutoPlay.
  • Disable execution of powershell.exe, powershell_ise.exe and cmd.exe via Windows Explorer.
  • Set User Account Control (UAC) to always request permissions
  • Show file extensions and hidden files.
  • Block JavaScript or VBScript from launching downloaded executable
  • Disable Macros in Microsoft Office
  • Disable OLE object execution
  • Disable JavaScript in PDF documents.
  • Disable execution of objects embedded in PDF documents.
  • Enable Protected Mode (enabled by default in current versions)
  • Enable Protected View for all files from untrusted sources
  • Enable Advanced Security (enabled by default in current versions)
