Product Key Scanner is a tool that scans the Windows Registry and finds the product keys of Windows and other Microsoft products. Product Key Scanner is a tool that scans the Windows Registry and finds the product keys of Windows and other Microsoft products. You can scan the Registry of the current running system, as well as can scan the Registry from an external hard drive plugged into your computer.

The application can scan your PC's drives, but you can also search for keys on external hard drives. Before starting the query, you can specify whether you want to search the product key using WMI or in the BIOS. The search doesn't take long, depending on how many Microsoft products are installed.

Notes when using Product Key Scanner:

  • If you purchased your computer from a large company, the product key displayed by this tool may be different from the product key you see on the sticker. This happened because the company used the same clone disc with the same product key on all computers with the same model.
  • You may see the same product key more than once, simply because it is stored in multiple locations or because the key was found by multiple scanning methods (Registry, BIOS, WMI).
  • This tool can only find your product key if it is stored on your system. For some license types, the product key is not stored in the Registry at all.
